Partner Talk: Quotes Of The Week

What were solution providers talking about with CRN last week? Here's a handful of quotes we picked up that focused on such news stories that addressed sales opportunities in the channel for Internet of Things applications in healthcare and HP Inc.'s device as a service business, as well as the events leading up to this week's debut of DXC Technology, the new name for CSC after its merger with the Enterprise Services group of Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

"Security is the number one conversation throughout [healthcare IoT applications], because of HIPAA guidelines."

~ Brian Blanchard, vice president of cloud solutions at 10th Magnitude, based in Chicago, on potential opportunities for channel partners in healthcare as more medical devices become connected.

"They have led this market with managed print services. They are years ahead of everybody else in terms of how to crack the code."

~ Skip Tappen, CEO of NWN, on HP Inc.'s device as a service business, which an executive with the vendor said is "scaling rapidly" and delivering revenue within its channel, as the sales pipeline has hit a clip that could move the financial needle for HP's $30 billion Personal Systems business.

"Xerox has cracked the code on ease of use with this. It's a conversation that doesn't talk about feeds and speeds and dollars, but work processes."

~ John Hand, managing director at Fairfield, N.J.-based Complete Document Solutions, on Xerox's introduction of 29 new printers that includes the cutting-edge ConnectKey interface. The launch marks the first time ConnectKey will be available on all of the vendor's smaller, tabletop A4 devices as well as single-function printers.

"I think at the end of the day, it’s a smart move for HPE to build its services practice. CSC is a good organization and I think they’ll complement [each other] very nicely."

~ Chris Pyle, president and CEO of Champion Solutions Group, a solution provider based in Boca Raton, Fla., on the completed merger of CSC and the Enterprise Services group of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which becomes official April 3 under the new name, DXC Technology.

"Cisco's come to appreciate that their value is both in their hardware and software, but customers might have a different hardware platform. … To be able to leverage the Cisco feature(s) and function(s) on the software is still very attractive to customers, and they can choose more flexibility on the hardware platform. It gives Cisco more scope and customers more options."

~ Kent MacDonald, vice president of business development at Long View Systems, a Calgary, Alberta-based Cisco Gold Partner, on a report that Cisco has built a new network operating system that will allow users to run its most sophisticated networking features on older and lower-cost Cisco routers and switches. Cisco, in a statement to CRN, didn't directly comment on the report, from The Information.
